Game Time! - Part II

I guess this is a day of family time and playing games we've had a bit. Today we finally cracked open our Mummy Rummy game. It is a card game and it was fun. It took a bit of getting use to but we enjoyed it and will play it again. It is a Gamewright game and marketed for ages 8 to Adult, for 2 to 5 players. We just played with 3.

Game Time!

We finally played a game that we've had for a while. It is a dice game called Greed. It was actually fun and very easy to learn. It is a good way to practice addition skills and the game isn't overly long.

The age range on the box says 7 to adult. Well I'm back to enjoying my Mother's Day. I hope you all are too and making time to really reach out to the mothers in your life.

A Week of Board Games

This past week has been a big one for us when it comes to playing games. I've said it before and I will continue to say it - I love board games and card games. We have a routine now where we play games while listening to one Left Behind CD a day. So far so good.

The games we played this past week were

1. Racko (Parker Brothers)
2. Ballpark Blast (Cranium)
3. Zeus on the Loose (Gamewright)
4. Zigity (Cranium)
5. Trouble (Milton Bradley)
6. Aggravation (Milton Bradley)

It was a great week, learning new things, practicing skills and being FAMILY

Card Games: Zigity

Actually after much thought, I could have listed Racko as a card game since it is played with cards.

Today seems to be game day in our household. We just finished playing Zigity a game that is sold by Cranium. I like it. It is easy to learn. It is also a game that is recommended for 2 or more players over the age of 8. Each player starts with 7 cards and the object is get rid of all of your cars by making sets. There are 4 ways to make a set 1) Spell a word, 2) Add to 11 3) Finish a puzzle or 4) Match the instrument.

So far I've really enjoyed the Cranium games I've played.

Board Games: Racko

Games are a definite favorite in our house. They are also a great addition to any homeschooling family's inventory. It is something you can do as a family while learning and reinforcing lessons.

Today we played Racko. The object of the game is to swap out the cards in your rack one by one. It is played in rounds. I found it a great way to work on the concept of sequential numbers as well as multiples of five. It can be played with 2 to 4 players and although the makers suggest being at least age 8 like anything else use your own discretion and knowledge of your child's abilities.

Games

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. One thing I find is after all is said and done the gifts I enjoy the most are ones I can share with others. Board Games are still a huge hit in our family. My son is also learning games from other countries - Shogi and Go being two that I am trying to learn also. I do hope that I can get a GO board down the road. I have found about some groups for GO when I was at the Japan Expo. I will share the links with you all as soon as I find the paper in case there are others who enjoy the game or want to learn more about the game.
